Boat People

Boat People are refugees who fled Vietnam by boat after the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. The migration reached its peak between 1978 and 1979, but it continued through the early 1990s. An estimated 800,000 people fled Vietnam during this period, many dying along the journey. The refugees first landed in Southeast Asian countries before resettling in the US, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, and the UK, among other places. 

Communism

Nhau

The term nhau means “together” in Vietnamese. It refers to an informal party for immigrants to eat, drink, dance, and share memories and experiences.
