Rising Out of Hatred: The Awakening of a Former White Nationalist

A form of political messaging in which coded language is employed that appears to mean one thing but has another meaning to a subgroup. Dog whistles are often employed by politicians signaling to white supremacists that policies will have racial effects, without explicitly stating racist intent.

The Ku Klux Klan is a white supremacist hate group that targets African Americans. The Klan is a reactionary white nationalist group that is anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic, and anti-Jewish, among other groups.

Privilege is a special right, advantage, or immunity granted to a person or group. In this context, the relevant privilege is “white privilege.” White privilege is the societal privilege of white people over nonwhite people.
