Yuval Noah Harari

The author was born in Haifa, Israel, in 1976, received his Ph.D. from the University of Oxford in 2002, and is currently lecturing in the Department of History at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In addition to Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind (2015), the international best-selling author has also penned Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow (2017) and 21 Lessons for the 21st Century (2018).

At the start of his career, Harari studied world and military history, and he has since branched out to focus on all-encompassing questions such as the relationship between history and biology, the relationship between humans and animals, justice and happiness, personal and global choices, and the ethics behind our technological advances.

Harari lectures around the world and has written articles for The New York Times, The Economist, the Financial Times, and Nature magazine. He consults with politicians on the future, technology, and artificial intelligence and in 2018 gave a keynote speech on the future of humanity at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. In 2019 he co-founded Sapienship, an organization whose mission, according to its website (www.sapienship.co), is to “clarify the global conversation, focus attention on the most important challenges and support the quest for solutions.
