Part 5: “August”

Part 5, Chapter 24 Summary: “Leon”

After breaking up with Kay, Leon is sad, but Richie reminds him that he hadn’t really been in love with her for months anyway. He was just used to having her around. Now that he is not spending weekends with Kay, Leon needs to find other places to go because the flat is Tiffy’s on weekends.

He visits several more Johnny Whites on weekends and books an Airbnb to visit Richie, but the visit is canceled, so Leon calls his mother and asks if he can visit her instead. He does not visit very often, and she is happy to have him. He asks if anyone else is living with her because the men she usually has around are a big reason he has avoided visiting. She tells him that she has been on her own for a few months and is doing well.

Leon tells her that he and Kay broke up, and she asks why Kay ended it. He tells her that he ended it because she didn’t believe that Richie is innocent. She tells him that he can stay as long as he wants.
